Dergunova Appointed Chief of Property Agency

VedomostiOlga Dergunova, center, will have to deal with an ongoing investigation of the agency as part of her new role as its head.

VTB board member Olga Dergunova has been appointed to head the Federal Property Management Agency by Dmitry Medvedev.

The appointment, reported by Kommersant on Wednesday, has long been rumored, with her candidacy supported by First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov. The post has been empty since the end of last year.

Gleb Nikitin has been the acting agency head.

Dergunova will now be expected to develop a new strategy and direction for the property agency, which manages state property and is responsible for implementing privatization plans.

But Dergunova will also have to grapple with an ongoing investigation of the agency by the Interior Ministry, the Federal Security Service, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Investigative Committee and the Federal Financial Monitoring Service.

The results of the investigation, initiated in May by then-President Dmitry Medvedev after an unsatisfactory inventory at the agency, are due Aug. 1.

Dergunova had been at state bank VTB since 2007, where she was responsible for the company’s corporate bloc and subsidiaries. Before joining VTB, she spent 13 years at Microsoft Russia.
