As Man Rescues Drowning Woman His $90,000 Car Is Stolen

WikipediaAn Audi Q7, the same model as the car that was stolen.

After witnessing a car crash through a roadside barrier and plummet into eastern Moscow's Yauza River, a good samaritan rushed out of his luxury SUV, leaving the door open and the key in the ignition.

The man then jumped into the water and rescued a woman stuck within the passenger's side of the sinking vehicle. Its driver, however, was pinned under the steering wheel and could not be pried free.

When the man later returned to where he'd parked his Audi Q7, valued at 2.9 million rubles, it was gone — presumed stolen.

The incident occurred on Monday near Bolshoi Matrossky Pereulok. The man has been identified only as an entrepreneur from a Moscow suburb. The driver of the sinking car, a Volvo, reportedly died from trauma suffered in the accident.

Police are searching for the Audi.
