Siberia Air May Be for Sale

The husband and wife owners of Siberia Airlines have put their stake in the company up for sale, a source in the airline industry told Interfax.

He said Vladislav and Natalya Filev mandated financial institutions to sell their shares. "Unofficial offers were made to Aeroflot and Transaero. The price for the company is $300 million to $350 million," he said, adding that the second carrier of the S7 Group, Globus, is not being sold.

Two other sources said an offer had also been made to UTair. The carrier's press service said Siberia Airlines' shareholders are not holding negotiations to sell the company and have not mandated such negotiations on their behalf. S7 Group, which is owned by the Filevs, owns 71.3 percent of Siberia Airlines, and the Federal Property Fund holds 25.4 percent, according to the company's report for the first quarter of 2012.
