Rostelecom Counting on Innovation

State-owned telecommunications firm Rostelecom plans to increase the share of revenue from innovative services to 25 percent of total revenues by 2015, Interfax reported Monday.

Alexei Nashchyokin, the company's vice president for innovative development, made the statement on the sidelines of an industry forum in Novosibirsk.

Innovative services now account for about 4 percent of the company's revenues and include the electronic government program and cloud services.

Nashchyokin also said the company is looking to start a state-provided national e-mail service by the end of March. The effort would require new laws and changes to existing laws, he said.

The government plans to provide e-mail accounts that people can use to interact with officials and agencies.
