3 Dead and One Injured in Factory Blaze

Three factory workers died and one was injured Thursday morning after a fire broke out in a village recently incorporated into Moscow's city limits.

The fire started in the early hours of Thursday morning inside a metal shed that contained technical equipment at a paving slab factory in the village of Ptichnoye, roughly 50 kilometers southwest of the city center, RIA-Novosti reported.

Emergency services received a call for help at about 3.40 a.m., but it took about two hours to contain the blaze, which spread across more than 2,000 square meters, the report said.

"According to the latest information, three people died and another burned skeleton belongs to a dog," an Emergency Situations Ministry spokesman told Interfax.

It appears that the three victims died when the roof of the shed collapsed, RIA-Novosti said, citing the emergencies ministry. An anonymous police source told the news agency that another person was injured in the fire.

Authorities didn't identify the victims, but unconfirmed reports said that they were migrant workers who lived at the factory.
