Russian Standard Bank boosted net profit 24.8 percent year on year to 3.07 billion rubles ($98 million) under international financial reporting standards in the first half of 2012, Interfax reported, citing a eurobond prospectus released by the bank.

The Communications and Press Ministry sent the government a proposal to replace Alexander Provotorov, chief executive of Rostelecom, with Vadim Semyonov, a former classmate of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Kommersant reported, citing an executive of Rostelecom and a telecommunications industry source. Semyonov is CEO of Svyazinvest.

Matthias Warning, an acquiantance of President Vladimir Putin and a former member of East Germany's Stasi security agency, has been elected chairman of RusAl's board of directors, the company said, Interfax reported Monday.
