No Borjomi Soon

Russia will not offer Georgian authorities the possibility to negotiate the resumption of deliveries of Georgian wine and mineral water to the Russian market, Federal Consumer Protection Service head Gennady Onishchenko said Thursday.

"Russia is equally interested in agricultural imports from Georgia and from Burkina Faso. The scale of exports from that country [Georgia] is meager and absolutely insignificant for our consumer market," he said.

On Wednesday, the Georgian Agriculture Ministry said it did not rule out negotiations with Russia on the resumption of exports of Georgian wine and Borjomi mineral water.

Onishchenko will meet with Tbilisi City Council Deputy, leader of the Free Georgia Party Kakha Kukawa in Moscow on Friday to discuss the resumption of the deliveries.

Russia banned the Georgian products several years ago, officially due to their inferior quality.
