Nokia Siemens Issues Ratings

Russia ranked third for efficiency after Malaysia and Chile among countries with resource-driven economies in Nokia Siemens Networks' annual Connectivity Scorecard 2011.

The study, released late last week, measures the extent to which governments, businesses and consumers in 50 countries use information and communications technologies to boost economic growth and social well-being. Russia ranked fifth in the survey in 2010. Countries with economies driven by innovation are measured separately, with Sweden and the United States at the top.

Although the study shows Russia in a good light, the IT sector is impeded by corruption, poor regulation and insufficient and inefficient use of modern technologies, other research suggests.
