Stabbing in President's Office

A homeless Armenian native stabbed himself in a presidential public reception office in an attempt to attract attention to his legal problems, Moscow police said Friday.

The 40-year-old man, who was not identified, slashed his neck and wrist with a shard of a blade in the office on Ulitsa Ilinka in downtown Moscow on Thursday, a police official told Interfax.

The man, who was hospitalized, had no legal status in Russia and was apparently seeking to obtain some sort of residence permit, the official said.
