RusHydro Officials Faulted

A federal agency investigating last month’s dam disaster that killed 75 people has determined that several senior RusHydro officials are at fault, it said Monday.

“We have candidates. There are plenty of them. Tomorrow we will name them as those responsible for the disaster,” said Nikolai Kutyin, head of the Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear  Supervision, RIA-Novosti reported.

He said that he would pass the findings of his investigation into the Aug. 17 tragedy at RusHydro’s Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station to the Investigative Committee.

Kutyin also said repairs to the plant would cost more than 40 billion rubles ($1.3 billion) and that it would be easier to rebuild it than repair it.
