Bricks Aplenty at Lego Fest

For MTChildren reaching for more Lego bricks at last year’s inaugural festival.

Fans of plastic bricks and their parents will converge on Marino on Sunday for the Lego Festival.

Aimed at children aged 7 to 14, the festival will provide participants with hours of opportunity to build far and wide with Lego.

Organizers promise lots of competitions, and lots and lots of bricks to create something connected to this year’s theme — the countries of the world.

In its second year, the festival is flying in a professional Lego designer for the first time. Organizers would not give away what Lego construction the designer would come up with.

Fans on an online Lego forum have been eagerly discussing the event with many promising to bring along their own homemade Lego inventions.

“Oh no, why isn’t it taking place during the holidays?” wrote one Lego fan, who must be either a school pupil or teacher, whose avatar was Star Wars’ Obi-Wan Kenobi made out of Lego. “I will be at school on the 20th.”

There will also be a special area for children aged between 4 and 6.
