2 Convicted in Olympic Cyclist's Death

A St. Petersburg court on Thursday convicted two men in the 2005 killing of Olympic cycling champion Dmitry Nelyubin, Interfax reported.

Nelyubin was stabbed to death before dawn on New Year's Day in 2005 on a St. Petersburg street where he and friends were setting off fireworks. The stabbing occurred when the revelers got into an argument with several other men.

Nelyubin was a member of the four-man Soviet team that won the 4,000-meter pursuit at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Interfax did not specify the charges on which the two men were convicted or the potential sentences they face.
