Arbat Prestige Trial Halted

Moscow's Tushinsky District Court halted the trial against the founder of bankrupt cosmetics retailer Arbat Prestige on Monday and sent the case back to prosecutors.

The judge told prosecutors to "eliminate violations" before returning the case to court, Moscow City Court spokeswoman Anna Usachyova said, without elaborating, Interfax reported.

Arbat Prestige founder Vladimir Nekrasov was on trial with Semyon Mogilevich, a reputed organized crime boss, on charges of tax evasion. They deny wrongdoing. (MT)

New Kyrgyz Base Talks?

Kyrgyzstan's president may meet with Afghan leader Hamid Karzai next week in Russia to discuss letting U.S. forces continue to use the Manas base to support operations in Afghanistan, a Kyrgyz official said Monday. (AP)
