MAKHACHKALA, Dagestan — A wrestling coach has been shot and killed in Dagestan, officials said.

Coach Ismail Suleimanov was attacked late Wednesday in Makhachkala as he walked out of a sports facility after a training session, police said. Two men sprayed Suleimanov with automatic fire from a passing vehicle, killing him on the spot. Suleimanov was the coach of the province’s wrestling team.

Also, acting Dagestani Interior Minister Alexander Trofimov said 76 law enforcement officials have been killed and another 155 wounded so far this year. One of the victims was Trofimov’s predecessor, Adilgerei Magomedtagirov, who was shot and killed by a sniper in June in a daylight attack.

Trofimov said militants also have killed 15 civilians and wounded another 30 this year.
