Beer Market Struggling

The Russian beer market declined by an estimated 10 percent in the first 9 months of the year, according to figures released by brewers Thursday.

Global leader by volume Anheuser-Busch InBev saw Russian production volumes decrease by 20.4 percent in the third quarter. Heineken saw Central and Eastern European volume drop 9.1 percent with Russia performing below the regional average, and reiterated plans to close two factories in the country.

Carlsberg Group, which owns St. Petersburg-based Baltika Breweries, reported an 8 percent drop in beer volumes in the same period.
