Talks Before Clinton’s Visit

Russian and U.S. diplomats will hold consultations on missile defense prior to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s visit to Moscow next week, the Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

The consultations will be conducted by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and Ellen Tauscher, U.S. undersecretary for arms control and international security, ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said.

Clinton is expected to discuss progress on negotiating a successor to the 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or START I, on her three-day trip, which starts Monday.
