Sberbank to Sell Spare Emission Allowances

Russia asked Sberbank to start selling the nation’s spare emission allowances assigned under the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, Point Carbon reported, citing an e-mail from a government official.

United Nations data shows Russia could have 1.13 billion tons of so-called Assigned Amount Units a year available for sale because its current emissions are 30 percent below its Kyoto target, the report said.
