New U.S. Envoy to Ukraine

WASHINGTON — U.S. President Barack Obama nominated John Tefft, a Foreign Service officer for 37 years, as U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, the administration announced Wednesday.

Tefft was the ambassador to Georgia during the Bush administration starting in 2005, a period that included the five-day war between Russia and Georgia in August 2008.
