Sochi to Get $3.3Bln Over Next 3 Years

Around 81 billion rubles ($3.3 billion) will be invested for the construction of buildings and the development of infrastructure for the 2014 Sochi Olympics over the next three years, Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov said Monday.

Speaking at a meeting of the presidium of the Presidential Council for Physical Education, Sports and the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Zubkov said the funds would be invested over the next three years through the Sochi Olympic and development program and will be aimed at the construction of 243 new sites and the improvement and building of roads, Interfax reported.

Zubkov directed the presidium "to focus on particular targets: to erect complexes and build roads," RIA-Novosti reported.

The time for planning has passed, Zubkov emphasized. "Six years to realize our massive plans is an extremely rigid timeline," Zubkov said, RIA-Novosti reported.

Zubkov said building sites must be finalized and that additional budgetary funds must be raised for a number of the projects.
