Medvedev Election Site Up

First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, President Vladimir Putin's preferred candidate in the March 2 presidential election, has launched his campaign web site.

The site,, was launched Tuesday evening and contains Medvedev's biography, a collection of photographs and an assortment of his speeches.

A disclaimer states the site was created and is maintained using money from Medvedev's campaign fund. (MT)

Bomb Suspects Plead Guilty

Five of the eight defendants charged with the deadly 2006 bombing of Moscow's Cherkizovsky market partially admitted their guilt in court Wednesday, RIA-Novosti cited one of the suspect's lawyers as saying.

Fourteen people, including two children, were killed and around 30 others injured in the Aug. 21, 2006, bomb attack, which prosecutors believe was carried out by members of the radical right-wing group Spas, who are on trial at the Moscow City Court. (MT)

99 Percent Conviction Rate

More than 99 percent of all suspected criminals tried last year were convicted, Supreme Court head Vyacheslav Lebedev said Wednesday.

Of the 945,415 people tried on criminal charges last year, 935,000 were convicted, Lebedev said, Interfax reported. (MT)
