Model Killed in Battle With Carjacker

Investigators are looking for a suspect in the death of a model who was killed while trying to prevent her Porsche Cayenne from being carjacked, city prosecutors said Wednesday.

Anna Loginova, a 29-year-old model and businesswoman, died instantly Sunday when she smashed her head against the pavement while holding on to the door handle as the carjacker drove off in her Porsche, said Oleg Pavlov, the lead investigator with the southeast district branch of the City Prosecutor's Office.

"We haven't managed to find the suspect yet," Pavlov said.

Loginova arrived at a friend's apartment building on Novomarinskaya Ulitsa, near the Bratislavskaya metro station, at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday to adopt a kitten, Pavlov said.

According to witnesses, Loginova had just opened the door of her car when a man got out of a nearby car, sprinted toward the model and threw her out of the Porsche, Pavlov said. The man slammed the door shut and sped off, but Loginova held onto the door handle and was dragged along for several meters before her grip loosened and she slammed to the pavement, Pavlov said.

She was dead by the time an ambulance arrived, and police found the Porsche abandoned on a road not far from the crime scene, he said.

Loginova modeled for companies like BMW and Chanel, she told Maxim magazine in an interview last month. She also advertised a service for female bodyguards on the web site of Stilet, a private security firm that provides bodyguards for wealthy Muscovites.

A Stilet executive said Loginova never worked for the company.

"We provided her with some consultation services, but she was never a Stilet employee," said the executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity in line with company policy.

Stilet's web site features a photograph of Loginova dressed as a sleek security guard -- samurai sword at her side -- standing behind boxer Kostya Tszyu during a Moscow news conference last year.

Loginova's daring in attempting to protect her car may have been bolstered by an earlier incident, described in the Maxim interview, in which she fought off a would-be robber.

"I used a jujitsu technique," she told the magazine. "I twisted his arm and elbowed him in the face. The guy obviously was not expecting such a reaction."
