Sistema Eyes Gref, Yakovlev Takes Vacation

German Gref could be heading for the private sector, while Vladimir Yakovlev is going on vacation. But what Mikhail Zurabov, the most unpopular of the three ministers, is planning to do is a mystery.

Addressing speculation that Gref might take an executive position with Sistema, company head Alexander Goncharuk told reporters Tuesday that it would be a "pleasure" to see the former economic development and trade minister in the company. But "given the amount and the quality of the work he has done," Gref is likely remain in the government in some capacity, he said, Interfax reported.

Gref, who with the other two ministers lost their posts in a Cabinet shake-up Monday, is considering taking a job in the private sector, Vedomosti reported earlier this month.

Yakovlev will take a week's vacation before deciding his next move, said Irina Terkina, a former official at his Regional Development Ministry, reported.

A ministry spokeswoman said Tuesday that the ministry had no information about Yakovlev's plans.

Zurabov's plans were also unknown. "We have no information -- official or otherwise -- where Zurabov will work," a Heath and Social Development Ministry spokeswoman said.

A ministry source told RIA-Novosti that Zurabov had no intention of taking a senior position in the health, social or labor sectors -- or take another government post.
