Season's Eatings

As the temperature starts to fall along with summer's leaves, autumn specials appear on Moscow's menus, offering all the best of the seasonal produce.

Doucet X.O. has an oyster festival through the end of September. On the bill are three varieties of fresh oysters: the belon oyster No. 000 (190 rubles apiece), white pearl No. 2 (210 rubles) and fine de claire No. 2 (170 rubles). Other dishes include oyster chowder (560 rubles), oysters Rockefeller, baked with spinach and cream (710 rubles), and fresh oyster salad with fried peppers, lemon, olives and coriander (690 rubles).

The Il Patio chain has opened its sixth mussel season, featuring seven dishes: mussels and gray mullet tempura (330 rubles); classic mussels marinara (490 rubles); mussels with blue cheese (560 rubles), with smoked salmon (550 rubles), with mushrooms (590 rubles); mussels with cherry tomatoes in a pastry shell (490 rubles); and mussels with ground lamb, tomato sauce and pesto, served in a pastry shell (530 rubles).

Pasta della Mamma has kicked off its second "Tomatino" festival. In September, the Italian restaurant is offering all manner of tomato-based dishes, including bruschetta with tomato, mozzarella and pesto (280 rubles), creamy sweet tomato soup (380 rubles), pizza with tomato and taleggio cheese (490 rubles) and tomato with buffalo mozzarella and pesto (720 rubles).
