Restaurant News

Although traditionally a slow season, summer nonetheless saw its fair share of restaurant openings, including a duo in early August by restaurant management company RP-Com. The recently opened Shchuka retail and entertainment complex became the venue for RP-Com's sixth Goodman steakhouse, with seating for 120 customers, and its seventh Kolbasoff beer and sausage restaurant, with seating for 142.

Beer and bangers were the flavor of summer, it would seem. Restaurateur Arkady Novikov and sausage king Vadim Dymov opened the third establishment in their joint project, the Dymov No. 1 beer and sausage restaurant chain. The new restaurant has four seating areas: a 4-meter-long bar with tables for two in the adjacent area, a sports-watching zone with a large screen, a cozier area with plasma screens and a separate grill section. In contrast to the first two Dymov restaurants, the latest addition features historical photos of people quaffing beer instead of portraits of the restaurant's staff.

Alehouses continued to multiply as the Kruzhka chain hit the quarter-century mark, opening its 25th beer bar. Housed in the former premises of City Pub on Myasnitskaya Ul., the new Kruzhka seats 200 people -- although once the current expansion is complete, the bar is to occupy five halls with seating for 357.

For those more inclined to wine, Vinoteca Dissident has introduced a weekend breakfast offer titled "Sparkling Weekend." Since different people have different ideas as to what time is breakfast time, the restaurant is offering its breakfast menu all day, both Saturday and Sunday. It includes Bollinger Special Cuvee Brut champagne served with fresh strawberries, grapes, assorted soft cheeses, tramezzini sandwiches with chicken fillet and smoked salmon, pate, French baguette, confiture and coffee of your choice. Breakfast for one costs 1,700 rubles, or 2,200 for two. Various other brunch-friendly options can be ordered separately.
