Voters Don't Trust The Ruling Class

With State Duma and presidential elections approaching, voters overwhelmingly distrust the country's ruling class, according to a Levada Center poll released this week.

Asked what they think of "the people now in power," 60 percent replied, "They're people who are only concerned with their own material gain and career advantage," according to the poll, published Wednesday. Another 9 percent of respondents called the leaders "honest but weak," while 11 percent called them "honest but incompetent."

Only 10 percent of respondents described those in power as "a good team of politicians leading the country in the right direction."
