Hackers Butt Into LDPR Internet Site

Hackers defaced the web site of the Liberal Democratic Party on Sunday morning, following an attack that brought down the web sites of the Yabloko party and its youth wing on Friday night, news agencies reported.

The front page of the nationalist Liberal Democratic Party was briefly replaced with a crude drawing of a pair of buttocks and a Russian profanity for the posterior, along with a message to the web site's operators to improve their security, Lenta.ru reported Sunday.

The message, signed by the Nuclear-Wind Hack GROOP, had been removed by Sunday afternoon.

Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky linked the attack to upcoming State Duma elections, Interfax reported.

"Unfortunately, there are plenty of villains and scoundrels out there, and in this incident I see the beginning of the electoral campaign," he was quoted as saying.

Another hacker attack brought down the web sites of the liberal Yabloko party and its youth wing on Friday night, the party said in a statement. It was not clear whether the attacks were related.
