Pizzeria Robbed of $2,300

Robbers tied up and beat to death a security guard at a pizzeria in western Moscow before making off with 60,000 rubles ($2,300) from the till, a law enforcement source told Interfax on Monday.

The body of the 54-year-old guard was discovered at the pizzeria in the Solntsevo district Saturday morning, his hands and feet bound, the source said.

In addition to the money from the till, the robbers also made off with video footage from surveillance cameras at the restaurant, the source told Interfax.

No suspects had been detained as of Monday, he said. (MT)

U.S. Woman Dies in Hotel

An elderly U.S. woman has been found dead of apparent heart failure in the Radisson-Slavyanskaya hotel, Interfax reported Monday.

The body of the 67-year-old New York resident was found Friday evening in one of the hotel's rooms, a law enforcement source told Interfax. No signs of foul play were found at the scene, and authorities believe it was likely a case of heart failure, he said.

The name of the woman has not been released. (MT)
