Teeny Tapas Creations

MTEto Leto's wicker-furnished front room is its most relaxed, casual space.
Eto Leto is like a rich person's beer tent: It's outdoors and open just for the summer months. But don't expect to find any shashlik grilling out back -- it's not that kind of place.

Located on the Garden Ring, it could have been smothered in exhaust fumes and traffic noise, but it is set back just far enough in a small, leafy nook that air and noise quality don't seem to be a problem, at least in the evenings.

There are several sections, the first of which is situated in an arch under the restaurant Organic, behind which is another section housed in a large tent-like structure with open sides. The seating is comfortable and the tables low, which, along with the large selection of hookahs (starting from 800 rubles), makes Eto Leto a good choice for lazy lounging.

To complement the languid atmosphere there is an impressive selection of easy nibbles -- listed under the heading "Tapas In the Style of ..." These are not traditional tapas at all -- only one Spanish-style variety is listed: a baked tomato in a spicy harissa sauce (300 rubles). All the tapas are listed by their "nationality." There are two Thai tapas -- a warm crispy chicken salad with lemon grass (250 rubles) and a king prawn in almond tempura with wasabi sauce (250 rubles). The French selection lists sea scallops in a Grand Marnier sauce (300 rubles). Other interesting options include a Hong Kong avocado soup with red and green pepper (250 rubles), an Italian lasagna with Kamchatka crab, sea scallop and prawns (360 rubles) and a Russian Stroganoff with fried onion and giblets roasted with potato (250 rubles). Diminutive in size, the tapas' presentation is impeccable.

Of course, there are other dishes on the menu, with pastas and risottos ranging from 460 to 640 rubles and mains starting at just under 600 rubles and averaging around 1,000 rubles. Wine starts at about 280 rubles a glass and is ordered from Organic's wine list.
