FSB Probes Youth Group

The Novosibirsk branch of the anti-Kremlin youth group Red Youth Vanguard is being investigated on suspicion of publishing extremist literature, the Federal Security Service said Wednesday.

Two of the organization's newspapers -- Red Revenge and Control Shot -- contained articles that experts determined had advocated a violent overthrow of the government, the agency said in a statement. The newspapers were distributed during a May 1 demonstration in Novosibirsk.

The articles "stressed the need for political protests and mass disorder and also openly advocated the disintegration of the army," a source at the Federal Service for Mass Media, Telecommunications and the Protection of Cultural Heritage told Interfax.
