The summer patio season is upon us, as the city's restaurants and cafes open their terraces for the warmer months. Some of the early birds include Tan, with its outdoor patio featuring a wall-long waterfall and parquetry made from Chinese peach-tree wood. The summer bar also offers a special range of beverages, including cocktails with exotic fruits.

Spanish restaurant Tapa De Comida, best known for its tapas bar, has opened a summer patio for the first time.

The Grabli smorgasbord chain has opened al fresco seating areas at two of branches, on Pyatnitskaya Ulitsa and Prospekt Mira. Diners can expect the same cute dacha decorations, only in a more convincing outdoor setting.

For those looking for an out-of-town feel, the posh Politica restaurant on the exclusive Rublyovo-Uspenskoye Shosse has also opened its summer veranda.

Just in time for the warmer weather, In Vino has introduced some new spring dishes. On the bill are such dishes as a "palette" of tomatoes with burrata cheese and pesto sauce (487 rubles), blue-fin tuna steak with red onion and spicy sauce (982 rubles) and escargot with a mousse of potato and chervil (436 rubles).

Until June 3, microbrewery restaurant Tinkoff is holding a special Japanese Weeks. The restaurant, which already offers 250 dishes on its sushi menu, is preparing four varieties of Shogun Boat Dinners for the duration of the special offer. Each includes four types of sushi, two types of sashimi, rolls with eel and cucumber, as well as miso soup, gyoza dumplings, vegetable salad, a tempura mix and rice. The boats differ in which mains they include, with chicken, beef or fish available.

Retro beer restaurant Kvas (pictured) now has an aquarium. The new addition, however, is not purely decorative -- diners can choose from among its inhabitants, which are carp and sterlet, and have them prepared for their dining enjoyment.
