MT has announced the results of its annual Best Restaurant awards. The winners for 2006 were chosen on the basis of more than 15,000 votes submitted to its web site. The winner of the Best Coffeehouse title went to Shokoladnitsa, Best Democratic Establishment -- Gorodskoye Kafe 317, Best Restaurant Chain -- Il Patio, Best Out-of-Town Restaurant -- Veranda U Dachi, Best Ethnic Cuisine -- Noyev Kovcheg, Best Beer Restaurant -- Durdin, Best Fish Restaurant -- Rybny Bazar, Best Cuisine -- Cafe Pushkin, Best Club Restaurant -- Sorry Babushka, Best Bar -- Vision, Best Interior -- Turandot, Best Service -- Villa Rosa, Best Atmosphere -- Prado Cafe, Opening of the Year -- Turandot.

The arrival of summer means the arrival of summer menus. Goodman has introduced its seasonal menu that will run until Aug. 31. On the bill are such dishes as "Goodman okroshka" with filet mignon (310 rubles), asparagus fried in butter (250 rubles) and fresh cherries (390 rubles). For those looking to rehydrate after a hard day's slog, there is a new selection of beverages, including "Goodman sangria" (270 rubles), plantation punch (210 rubles), "Goodman lemonade" (120 rubles) and ice tea (135 rubles).

Peperoni is not bucking the trend and has developed its own summer season specials. Available till Aug. 31, the Italian restaurant is serving, among other summer dishes, spaghetti di formaggio with tomato jelly and basil sauce (400 rubles), green-pea soup with beef carpaccio and vanilla sauce (500 rubles) and goatfish with zucchini, fresh tomato and lemon (700 rubles).

Nedalny Vostok has introduced business lunch specials. From noon to 4 p.m. on weekdays, the pan-Asian restaurant offers three different fixed lunch menus. The meat set comes with vegetable rolls, pea soup, steak from Australian beef, cheese cake and green tea or espresso. The fish option comes with tomato carpaccio, cream of pumpkin soup, salmon teriyaki with green-tea noodles, and either green-tea ice cream or lychee sorbet plus green tea or espresso. The Asian option consists of cucumber rolls, salmon rolls, salmon sushi, miso soup, chuka seaweed salad, potato and calamari grill and either green tea or espresso. All three lunches are available at the same price -- 800 rubles.
