Ukrainian Detained in Girls' Deaths

A Ukrainian citizen has been detained on suspicion of strangling two teenage girls to death and dumping their bodies in a forest outside Moscow, law enforcement sources said Wednesday.

The bodies of the girls, aged 16 and 17, were discovered at around noon Tuesday in a forest outside of Sergiyev Posad, 70 kilometers northeast of Moscow, an Interior Ministry source told

The mother of one of the victims, who were both 10th graders at School No. 4 in Sergiyev Posad, called police Saturday and said her daughter had left home and not returned, a source told Interfax. Later that day, the mother of the other victim called police with a similar report, the source said.

Police detained a 37-year-old Ukrainian citizen Tuesday evening on suspicion of killing the girls, and investigators were questioning him Wednesday, RIA-Novosti reported.
