Free Admittance To 8 Museums

Several city museums, including ones at the Kremlin, will have free admittance for visitors Wednesday as part of Cultural and Historical Heritage Day celebrations.

Eight museums, including the Vladimir Mayakovsky Museum and the Vladimir Vysotsky Museum, will stay open until midnight to give the public extra time to visit.

April 18 is celebrated around the world as the International Day for Monuments and Sites. UNESCO approved the annual celebration in 1983 to raise awareness about the world's heritage and draw attention to its vulnerability.

Entry to certain areas of the Kremlin, including the main territory and the three cathedrals on Cathedral Square, will be free of charge.

The Museum of Moscow History and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, among others, will be open late as well.

The city culture committee has posted a list of all museums participating in the celebrations, available at: .
