Ten Years Ago: A mere 8 grams of vodka can cause a colossal headache, managers of a Moscow bar found out after being accused by city inspectors of pouring short shots of Russia's national drink. Two employees of the Sports Bar on Novy Arbat were fined 2 million rubles (then the equivalent of about $350) after Gostorginspektsiya found that shots of vodka advertised as 40 grams contained only 32 grams. Bar employees, who declined to be named, said they thought they were being harassed on behalf of a competitor. They noted that the department's inspectors were so diligent, they spent eight hours in the bar checking things out.
