Favorite destination

"Rome -- just because it's the friendliest, most beautiful and yummiest city in the world. I will never tire of Rome because it combines the best city walks, the best buildings, the best cuisine and the friendliest people in the world (especially when one speaks Italian). It is the city where your own age is irrelevant, as is the money you have or you don't have. It survived everything and will survive us, many of us."

Favorite hotel

"It's Lapa Hotel -- in Lisbon. It is old, beautiful, quite cheap by Roman and Moscow standards, the service is impeccable and the staff is the friendliest of all the countries in the world."

Favorite restaurant worldwide

"Flying Fish in Sydney. It has the freshest seafood and fish, and it's cooked in such way that you feel useless as a cook in your own right."

Favorite airport

"Schiphol Amsterdam, and Singapore airport. ... They are modern, the shopping is good and they are very comfortable to get around."

Which airline has the best food?

"Emirates -- I love Lebanese food and the Middle Eastern food is cooked to perfection (relative to airline food)."

What did you read/do on your last flight?

"I am reading 'Cleaver' by Tim Parks. I like the story of somebody trying to get away from civilization -- very different from what I am currently doing anyway."

What do you always take with you when you travel?

"Again, the book -- if I don't have one, I will never fall asleep. Flying, especially from Australia, is a very long and boring process."
