The gastropub Prostiye Veshchi has introduced a new menu specially prepared by the restaurant critic Alexei Zimin. Running through to March 25, the special promotion is titled, "Supermarket Cuisine." The idea behind the name is that it offers "new Russian cuisine," using produce found in gourmet supermarkets -- the kind of ingredients discovered on foreign journeys. Some of the dishes on offer include ceviche of sea scallop with cilantro and kaffir lime (620 rubles), cabbage ragout with prawns and lemon grass (520 rubles) and green apple pie with cane sugar (320 rubles).

The virtual-reality bar and restaurant Versia 1.0 has introduced a spring "vitamin menu." The restaurant (pictured) -- which describes its menu as consisting of recipes of tsarist Russia side-by-side with the standards of Soviet cuisine and modern unrestrained fusion -- is soon to offer various vitamin-rich dishes, such as a vegetarian salad (254 rubles), cream soup of spinach and broccoli with cedar nuts (210 rubles) and fritters made from squash (267 rubles). The cocktail menu has also had a vitamin injection with such new drinks as "peach-beach" -- whole-peach, strawberry, lime and cranberry juice (215 rubles) -- and "appetizing" -- tomato, celery, bouillon, Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce and low-fat yogurt (257 rubles).

Arkady Novikov keeps 'em coming with the opening of GQ Bar, his largest development to date. The 1,500-square-meter restaurant is Novikov's second joint project with Conde Nast after Vogue Cafe. Taking its conceptual lead from its namesake magazine, the restaurant aims to attract stylish and well-to-do gentlemen. The restaurant has three halls, one of which serves as a classical bar, while the other two serve as Asian and Mediterranean restaurants. The restaurant runs around the clock and, as should be expected, the average bill should come to more than $100.
