Historical restaurant Yar has invited a new French chef to freshen up the menu. Cyril Bosviel (pictured), a professor from the culinary and hotel management school at Paul Bocuse Institute in Lyon, France, was brought in to add a French and Italian accent to the restaurant's offerings. New dishes on the menu include steamed langoustines with Thai mango and lobster jelly (1,000 rubles), duck liver in spiced wine with artichoke salad (630 rubles), sea scallops with nut oil and beet seasoning (800 rubles) and grilled sea bass with oyster and cress sauce and caviar (1,000 rubles). Foreign guests needn't worry -- the historical Russian menu has been retained.

On March 23, the Kruzhka beerhouse chain celebrated its fifth anniversary. Over the last half-decade it has opened 23 bars, not only in Moscow and the Moscow region, but also in Sochi.

Also celebrating an anniversary is the seafood restaurant More Vremeni, which opened just over a year ago. Coinciding with this event is the closing of the oyster season, which the restaurant is marking by offering more than 10 varieties of oysters for 69 rubles apiece. The special offer runs until April 30.

The offer finishes at the end of April, although Riviere offers certain "summer" varieties right through to September.
