Suspect in Itar-Tass Killing

Moscow police have apprehended a suspect in the killing of Anatoly Voronin, the chief property manager of Itar-Tass, Interfax reported Thursday.

Igor Diku, a Moldovan citizen, was apprehended upon arriving in Moscow from Moldova. He is suspected of stabbing Voronin, 55, to death last October in Voronin's Moscow apartment in order to steal 80,000 euros ($100,000) there.

The two were friends, Interfax said.

Detectives identified him by examining footage from a surveillance camera installed at the entrance of Voronin's apartment building. (MT)

Arrest for Kidnap and Rape

Rostov police have arrested a 52-year-old man on suspicion of kidnapping and repeatedly raping a woman in his garage, Interfax reported Thursday.

The unidentified suspect abducted the woman as she was returning home and kept her chained to a bed in his garage for 11 days in the Rostov town of Bataisk.

The woman's husband alerted police about his wife's disappearance, and detectives found her during a search of the town. (MT)

Severed Head in Train

Railway workers have discovered a severed human head in a train that arrived in the Kemerovo region from the Moscow area, Interfax reported Thursday.

The head, which was found during an inspection of the cargo train's cars, appeared to belong to a young male. The bruises on the head indicated the man had been beaten, Kemerovo police told Interfax. An investigation has been opened. (MT)
