NAZRAN, Ingushetia -- Camouflaged and masked attackers kidnapped a relative of Ingush President Murat Zyazikov on Friday and shot and wounded another in the attack, police officials said.

The incident outside Ingushetia's main city of Nazran was the second time that relatives of Zyazikov have been abducted by assailants.

Police opened a special operation to rescue Zyazikov's uncle Uruskhan, regional Interior Ministry spokesman Nazir Yevloyev said.

Another of Zyazikov's relatives was shot as he tried to come to Uruskhan Zyazikov's rescue.

In February 2006, assailants kidnapped Zyazikov's father-in-law, Magomed Chakhiyev, who was also an influential Ingush legislator and wealthy businessman. He was rescued three months later.

Also Friday, police in Dagestan killed a suspected rebel after he refused to surrender, officials said.

In Chechnya, authorities detained four senior police officials on suspicion of abuse of office, graft and money extortion, the regional Interior Ministry said.
