Gamer Held in Grandmother's Death

A young man beat his grandmother to death because she interrupted his computer games, Interfax reported Monday.

The 22-year-old man has admitted to police that he attacked his 80-year-old grandmother at their home in Petrozavodsk in the republic of Karelia, the report said.

He was not identified.

Elsewhere in Karelia, a man killed an elderly couple with a hammer and soldering iron and robbed them of 100,000 rubles, a car and two mobile phones, Interfax reported.

The attack took place Sunday in the village of Rabocheostrovsky.

The 70-year-old husband was killed with a soldering iron, while his 66-year-old wife was killed with a hammer. The bodies were found in an apartment and in a nearby garage.

A 30-year-old local man has been detained.
