Bangkok Police Hunting Killer

BANGKOK, Thailand -- Police issued a computer-generated image Wednesday of the man they believe fatally shot two female Russian tourists as they waited for sunrise on a Thai beach.

The bodies of Tatyana Tsimfer, 30, and Lyubov Svirkova, 25, were found Saturday morning slumped in lounge chairs on a beach in Pattaya, a resort town about 110 kilometers southeast of Bangkok known for its beaches, thriving sex industry and high crime rate.

Since the murders, police in Pattaya have interviewed many people who might have seen the women before they died. Security cameras also captured blurry images of a man apparently carrying out the crime.

Witnesses reported hearing gunfire at about 5 a.m. and saw a man, believed to be Thai, running from the beach and then speeding off on a motorcycle.

So far, Thai police have discovered no obvious motive. The victims' belongings, including mobile phones, were found with their bodies. In a description accompanying the computer-generated picture, the suspect is said to be about 25 years old and 160-165 centimeters tall.
