Rescue workers Sunday pulled a third worker from the wreckage of a collapsed building in central Moscow, Interfax reported.

"The man who was pulled out has been sent to a city hospital," Yevgeny Bobylev, chief spokesman for the Moscow branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry, told Interfax.

Two more workers were rescued Saturday evening.

The building, located at 6/2 Pereulok Kamennaya Sloboda, collapsed around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday. Workers, who lived in the basement, were preparing the building for demolition, a source in the city administration told Interfax.

A hospital source told Interfax that the third injured worker was in serious condition and was being treated at the Sklifosovsky First Aid Institute. He was diagnosed with a stomach wound, crush syndrome and hypothermia.

Bobylev said Sunday that rescue workers were sifting through the ruins of the building and that dogs had been brought in to help locate survivors.

The rescue work was proceeding "very carefully," Bobylev said, "because we can't rule out the possibility that people might still be trapped under the ruins. We are therefore regularly stopping work for a moment of silence to hear if anyone is trying to send a signal."
