Navy Widows Denied

A Moscow court Friday rejected a suit filed by four widows for damages from the Defense Ministry over the deaths of their sailor husbands, whose submarine sank in 2003.

The four had demanded that the ministry pay each of them $38,120 in compensation on the grounds that it had failed to assure the safety of the nine servicemen killed.

The court is scheduled to explain its decision next week.
