Yes, in Russia's slushy seasons of impossible, impassible mud and wet, a good pair of galoshes can come in handy for protecting your shoes, be they Adidas or Gucci.

A new breed of these all-weather overshoes has appeared, not to be confused with the kind that babushkas pull over their big felt valenki to get wood at the dacha.
