Considered the world's greatest pastry chef, Pierre Herme, who was awarded the French Legion of Honor by Jacques Chirac earlier this year, is in town to demonstrate his culinary art (pictured) at Galereya from Oct. 2 to 22. Herme is to present his Fetish collection of desserts. Macaroons are featured, with such exotic flavors as black truffle (500 rubles), foie-gras and chocolate (200 rubles) and chestnut and green tea (120 rubles). Other sweet-tooth tempters include the Surprise Mosaic, a sphere with crispy meringue, cherry compote, pistachio mousse cream and cardamom crumble (350 rubles).

Pan-Asian Nedalny Vostok has a Days of Malaysia promotion until Oct. 10, featuring Malaysian guest chef Mati, who has worked in prestigious restaurants and hotels in Malaysia and other countries. Mati is preparing a special menu including mild curry laksa with noodles, chicken and prawns (750 rubles), fish head curry with lady finger okra (950 rubles), lamb shank masala curry with cumin basmati rice (950 rubles) and barbecue beef rendang with banana leaf rice (1,750 rubles).

Italianets has commenced its latest season of special dishes under the title Menu del Plebiscito. Steering clear of extravagant ingredients, Italiantets' chef Giovanni Susini has put together a new menu emphasizing traditional foodstuffs used by regular people. Such down-to-earth dishes include ravioli with snails, savoy cabbage and taleggio cheese (570 rubles), large ravioli with oxtail and artichoke sauce (520 rubles), ravioli with frog legs under a cream of sweet pepper sauce (640 rubles) and baked suckling piglet leg with potato tortino and spinach (1,270 rubles). The specials are available until mid-November.

Stary Cherdak is running an Oktoberfest special. Besides the traditional Bavarian beer Alter Munster (230 rubles a half-liter) a special menu provides new dishes tailored for beer, such as stuffed tongue salad (180 rubles) and a grilled meat assortment for two (990 rubles).
