Until Nov. 1, the capital's restaurant-goers have the chance to attend the third Moscow Gastronomic Festival. The epicurean event is not restricted to just one location, taking place in 50 separate restaurants simultaneously. Every participant is offering a set degustation menu, the price of which varies but does not exceed 2,000 rubles. For the full list of restaurants taking part, see http://gastronomic.ru/members/members2007

Seafood eatery Restoran Morskikh Gadov (pictured) is running a Menu From the Aegean Sea special promotion. As part of celebrations marking the restaurant's second birthday, the special menu is offering such traditional regional dishes as salad of chicken stuffed with prawns and olives under a yogurt and lime sauce (480 rubles), vegetable and tuna salad (560 rubles), oyster souffle with mustard (490 rubles), souvlaki of scallops and prawns with tzatziki sauce (620 rubles) and snail lasagna with white-wine sauce (520 rubles).

Laff Cafe has introduced a new menu for autumn. New mains include beef stroganoff with porcini and mashed potato (460 rubles) and haddock under asparagus sauce with a mixed salad (380 rubles).

Tropicana, the restaurant club located inside the Arbat Cultural Entertainment Center, has recently reopened after reconstruction. Designed with a tropical exotica feel, it is probably the only establishment in town that prepares Polynesian dishes, among others. These rare treats include Polynesian satay of prawns and chicken on lemongrass skewers, and silver pomfret baked on coconut coals with lime sauce. As Tropicana is housed alongside a casino, the restaurant not surprisingly provides live music and, of course, a floorshow.
