Gastropub Greatest Hits

MTProstiye Veshchi offers breakfasts galore as it celebrates its birthday.
One year ago to the day, Prostiye Veshchi held its opening. Since then, this cute little cafe, or gastropub as it calls itself, has been producing some innovative cuisine alongside some classic deli favorites for the lunchtime crowd.

Part of Prostiye Veshchi's appeal has been its special offers, such as seasonal and guest menus. With the arrival of autumn, the cafe has excelled itself with an unprecedented number of new specials and promotions.

Until the end of the week, Prostiye Veshchi is offering a celebratory menu called "The Best of ..." including its most popular seasonal dishes from the past year as well as the most well-liked dishes from the guest menus. A full degustation selection can be had for 850 rubles or the dishes can be ordered separately. This, however, is not the only degustation menu available. As part of the Moscow Gastronomic Festival, Prostiye Veshchi is offering its own Osen degustation set menu with six autumnal offerings for 900 rubles, until the end of October.

The cafe has also revamped its regular menu, using seasonal ingredients in such dishes as pumpkin soup (170 rubles), buckwheat with chanterelles (150 rubles) and Parma ham salad with fresh melon and baked pumpkin (270 rubles).

Furthermore, Prostiye Veshchi has turbo-charged its breakfast menu. From 9 a.m.-noon and until 3 p.m. on weekends, breakfast-goers can try the new cheese fritters, porridges and sandwiches. Three new set breakfasts have been added: coffee, juice and either a fried egg with toast or a croissant (either 129 rubles) or coffee, juice and a hot ham, cheese and tomato sandwich (179 rubles). Takeout breakfasts have also been added, with a selection of sandwiches, pastries and fruit -- and, naturally, coffee and tea -- all available to be packed in special ready-to-go containers.

Finishing off this breakfast obsession, the cafe also has themed weekend breakfasts -- the next one being Spanish, with tortillas, arroz con leche rice pudding, jamon, cheese and other specialties. The following weekend is to be dedicated to children, followed by "dream breakfasts."
