2 Tajiks, One Chinese Man Hospitalized After Attacks

A group of unidentified assailants knifed two Tajik men in the stomach in an underpass in southern Moscow, a law enforcement source told Interfax on Monday.

The two Tajik men were walking in the underpass near Vostryakovsky Proyezd, not far from the Annino metro station Sunday afternoon when they were attacked by seven men, the unidentified source told Interfax, citing the victims' account.

The attack left the two men hospitalized in the Moscow region town of Vidnoye.

Police were attempting to determine whether the attackers were members of an ultranationalist youth group, the source said.

Also Sunday, a Chinese man was knifed by an unidentified assailant at an open market in eastern Moscow, Interfax reported, again citing an unidentified law enforcement source.

A city police spokesman said his department had no information about attacks on Chinese nationals in recent days.

Meanwhile, a Tajik man in St. Petersburg received several knife wounds in an attack Sunday evening, a St. Petersburg city police spokesman said by telephone Monday. The victim was still hospitalized in serious condition Monday morning, and police were investigating the incident, she said.
