American Chamber of Commerce in Russia

The American Chamber of Commerce in Russia has announced the election of Ron Pollett as its new chairman of the board.

Pollett is the president and chief executive officer of GE Russia/CIS. Based in Moscow, he is responsible for GE's wide-ranging activities in the region. Pollett has been with GE for 15 years, in a number of finance, strategic business development and management positions. In September 1998, he was appointed national executive for GE in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, and became national executive for GE in Russia/CIS in 2001.

Pollett actively supports local community charity efforts, with a focus on underprivileged children and orphanages. He attended Colgate University, majored in Russian Studies, and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in 1991 as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Pollett is fluent in Russian and has a strong understanding of Ukrainian and French.

The 26-member board of directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia elects its chairman on an annual basis.

JSC World Trade Center Moscow

Moscow-based JSC World Trade Center Moscow has announced the appointment of Valery Serov as an acting director general. In this role, besides other functions, he is to devote much attention to the construction of the new WTC buildings. Previously he was chairman of Gosstroi of the Soviet Union (1989-91), and deputy chairman of the government of the Russian Federation (1996-97).
