U.S. Visas to Be Filed Online

The U.S. Embassy will no longer accept paper applications for non-immigrant visas starting Oct. 25. After that date, only electronic applications will be accepted, the embassy said Tuesday.

Visa applications from fiances/fiancees of U.S. citizens will also have to be filed electronically.

Electronic visa applications can be filed online from any computer. Forms are available on the U.S. State Department's web site:

The new filing requirement will increase the security and anonymity of the visa application procedure and is intended to speed up visa processing. The embassy said a Russian translation of the form would be available on its web site, The form should be filled out in English.

The U.S. consulates in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg will continue to accept paper applications until further notice, but the consulate in Vladivostok will not.
